 23 hp Go Devil question
My longtail is having problems staying underwater when on plane. It wants to pull up out of the water. Is there anything that can be done to help keep it down. It is really wearing me out.

How much do I bend it up? Anyone got a pic to show me how?

Yep, take a crescent wrench with you on the water. A little goes a long way when adjusting the cav plate.

Re: 23 hp Go Devil question
Ok so i got my crescent wrench out and bent the back of the plate up. I will take it out and test it later. Is this what everyone is talking about?

Re: 23 hp Go Devil question
That's it. You may want to notch that plate where it bends down to the sides. My MBLT has about an inch of the top plate that extends out past the angled portion, that's where mine adjusts. It would make it a lot easier if you took a metabo or even a havksaw if that's all you have and just cut straight back toward the front of the plate parallel with the bend so it creates a bit of a 'tab' to bend. It will adjust easier and you won't pull the angled portion out of whack.

How far should I cut back? 1" or so?

Re: 23 hp Go Devil question
1/2" to 1" would do it. Take a grinder and clean everything up so it doesn't snag everything.
You could do it this way or even just bolt a tab to the cav plate and bend that. Most will probably prefer the bolted on tab, but either way will get the job done.

Re: 23 hp Go Devil question
How tall is your transom ???
You may have a short transom LT design on a tall transom hull....
The entire cavitation plate sits at a different angle for tall transom hulls - the easy way to tell is on the trailer when you lower the tail - the cavitation plate needs to be exactly parallel with your hull bottom......
Go Devil can actually remove and reweld the entire plate to properly align it if you have a mis-match setup and get it working right.....

Re: 23 hp Go Devil question
I'm running a gdlt with a honda gx630 on a tall transom 1848. I have the cav plate bent up at a pretty good angle. With all my bowfishing gear and one guy it runs great, with just me it wants to come out of the water at WOT. I'm not making runs farther than a mile or two so it's not really a big deal. I might weld a 1" extention on the cav plate. I would cut the cav plate off and re-angle it but I also use this motor on my short transom 1448 for duck season. Keep playing with the angle and it should eventually work for you.
