Looking for a proven small combo to get to some deer
I've been out of the mud motor game for some time, my last was a 27 pd before that was the first hyper so I'm not new to the game but I've noticed the small motor game has come along way.
What I'm looking for is a small LT rig that I can fit 1 guy and a deer or 2 guys and 4 doz decoys. Real light weight gear for some back water stuff I came into. I'm thinking 1436 or so 13 predator kit maybe. I like the looks of the ppf motor but not sure if they will work with the 13.
Any insight would be great.

Thanks to you to Huck! Some of my fondest memories where hanging out with our MAR DET when we hit the shore, especially the boys at Gitmo! They can drink!

Re: Looking for a proven small combo to get to some deer
Thats exactly what my 1436 flatbottom and 16hp longtail are used for... The boat is small and light enough that it can be launched in any situation and tough to get stuck... I cant say a whole lot about the backwater kit because I haven't got my hands on one yet, But from the photos and specs I have seen and buying multiple props from Jake and Arlen I would have no problems spending my money on backwater... The one thing I can say is the 16hp duromax from maxtool.com is a real workhorse. If you are looking for something to power a smaller rig this engine is killer... I have had mine for over 3 years and have countless hours on it bypassing the governor... It sits uncovered outside all year round and will start up first or second pull and run like a scalded dog...

Re: Looking for a proven small combo to get to some deer
I had a mod (6.5hp before mids) ppf on a 1436 and it was just a little under powered for two guys. The frame is also to small to take a 13 or 16hp motor. I would call back h2o and do a swamp lite glide kit for a 13 or 16 I don't know if they have them on the Web site or not but they will make you one at a fair price I have called about this in the past. It will be lite and very well made. I would also check out copperhead surface drives in the small hp range or wait until ppf releases its small hp surface drive. Just an idea.

Backwater has a glider kit for up to 23 hp , so any motor you chose up to that size .

Get a SWOMP lite kit!!!
I run a G3 riveted 1436 with a 13 hp Honda on my kit and with 2 guys and 4 dozen decoys, grass mats, blind bags, seats, emergency equipment it'll run 12-13 mph. That same load by myself will do 17.
Looking to maybe do some mods in the off season.
