Honda 24 HP Go Devil Longtail
Hey guys, new to the forum, but need your opinions on something: I am buying a 16x44 GD Boat and was trying to decide before the 23 HP vanguard or the 24 hp honda...I was trying to stay below the 25 hp restriction on some waters. This is solely a duck hunting boat and will usually just be toting 2 guys and a dog. Anyone have anything similar? What kind of performance should i be looking for? Thanks guys for your help.

I would go with the vanguard motor. More options for modifications later down the road if you were to choose to get more power out of it. Honda is a good reliable motor though.

Mods would be an option down the road, but I am looking for the most torque I can get now...so I think the honda is the way to go? I am getting it with the recoil starter installed as well for an emergency. What to do...damn I just hope I make the right decision, as this is my first mudmotor and boat.

Re: Honda 24 HP Go Devil Longtail
Had a 24 Honda longtail and it ran great.Quiet, dependable all dat. But,I would buy the Vanguard if I had it to do over. The recoil start on the 24 will not work if the battery is flat dead,it takes a little battery life to open fuel solenoid . The 23 will start with or without a battery.Like the other fella said-1 horsepower wont be noticed.
