Post Greasing a Backwater long Tail
Is there a grease fitting to grease the shaft on a Backwater Stomp Longtail?

I'm rebuilding my old MB with parts from BW and with the improved bearing system, I was thinking about doing away with greasing the shaft all together.

Does your MB have a center bushing? Most of the time the grease is in there to help take the whip out of the drive shaft, some companies put in a center of the shaft bronze bushing to do this so that the whole housing doesn't need to be full of grease. In colder climates the smaller long tails have trouble overcoming the frozen grease to start. Not a problem with higher HP engines.

The grease zerk is just below the top bearings on the drive shaft tubing. Check out photos of their motors on their site. You can see them on there.

The grease in the driveshaft housing of a Backwater is there solely to act as a suspension agent and prevent driveshaft slap. The Backwater bearings are sealed so they have their own lubrication.

I'm not saying don't grease it. It just needs maybe 2 pumps of grease every 25 hours.

Please show me where I said don't grease it. I said the grease acts as a suspension agent to prevent driveshaft slap.

I guess you have a person vendetta against Backwater. Which I find odd considering you've never actually owned one. I doubt very seriously the one that you did run was set up properly.
