 Tiller handle bracket/mount ideas
While hunting today my tiller hand bracket that the tiller slides into cracked and blew out. I used 1-1/8" square tube. Guessing it's 11 ga thick, cracked right down the middle while I was pulling on the tiller, made me fall, break my stern light in half and bout swamped the boat. Any recommendations on how to secure the handle to the motor base plate? I want the handle to be removable still so I can fit it in the garage. The old bracket that the tiller handle slid in had 5/16 G7 bolts holding it in. One bolt went through the handle the other one just screwed down tight against it.
It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

 Re: Tiller handle bracket/mount ideas
my removable handle or tiller is secured to the motor with a 1/4" by 4" angle that is bolted to the 2 motor mount bolts on one side of the motor base. I have 4" of tubing that is welded to this angle horizontal with the PTO. I mill a flat on this tubing that facilitates positioning on the side of the angle for welding. This tubing is of a size that allows the tiller handle to slide in to it for 4". I then have a cross bolt passed throw both the 4" piece and the tiller handle to hold it in the welded 4" piece. Questions? call me.

I'll put some pics up. I think what I'm going to end up doing is taking 1/4 flat and building a "box" out of that and bolting through the handle.

I was thinking maybe make a channel with a notch in the end then a bolt thru one end and a hole for a pin thru the other. That way you could rotate the handle 90 degrees for storage but you don't have to take all the way off. Just spitballin.
