Engine replacement on 16 hp longtail
I am new to the forum but have been reading the posts. I am switching out the engine on a 16 hp longtail. I have not been able to get the engine shaft to come out of the universal. I have tried liquid wrench and heat to try to break the joint free. Anyone with a suggestion on what else to try? Thanks,

Re: Engine replacement on 16 hp longtail
Can you get the yoke off of the longtail shaft? If you can get the engine off the frame (even with the yoke and u-joints still attached to the engine shaft) you aughta be able to punch the caps of the u-joint off to separate it from the yoke of the engine... Then take and use a slide hammer to get the yoke off the engine our use a bearing puller to remove the yoke from the shaft... Both special tools can usually be borrowed or rented from your local auto parts store (Napa)... Pictures of what you're dealing with might help to give some of us a better idea to help ya out...

Re: Engine replacement on 16 hp longtail
When I changed out my 16 vanguard to a 22 predator I had to split the yoke and use a puller,it came right off .
