Anyone here own a backwater swomp lite glider 6.5 hp? If you have personal experience with this engine I am looking for speeds you are getting and what size rig are you running it on, thanks?

I have one on a 1440. No idea on speeds. Haven't GPS'd it. I use it as a secondary boat at one of my hunting spots to shuttle guys and gear a short distance. It wouldn't be a bad motor at all to use on a primary boat if the boat is small and it's just you in the boat. If you usually have another guy in the boat or a lot of gear and are making relatively long runs, I'd opt for a bigger motor. I have some videos of the motor running if you want to PM me.

Haven't run a Backwater, but I've got a Swamp Runner with 212 Predator I use on a 1432 Lowe riveted. Old thin boat. Comfortable at 12-15 up river with me and traps, 15-17 downriver. I have had it going 21 downriver but have to hold the prop down in the water. With me and my dad and son we did 10 or so up river WOT, 12-15 downriver. With the heavier load I couldn't get the boat going fast enough to blow the prop out of the water.

I bet a 301 Predator would be sweet on your 1436, my 1432 isn't wide enough to support more than a 6.5.

Take a peek at the Stumpjumper too, almost got it instead of Swamp Runner.
