That too will work. Also can go to hobby shop and buy set screw barrels. Like what you would use to keep wheels on Landing gear on a model airplane

 Re: Lever style throttle , 30$ , 20 minutes
Did you have to adjust or replace the recall spring on the motor? I want to do this mod to mine, but don't think the existing spring will work. I was wondering how you handled that on yours?

Yes added a heavier return spring so it would return to idle when your not on the gas .

Got it done. Took a while and had to modify the handle, but only spent $22 bucks.

 Re: Lever style throttle , 30$ , 20 minutes
The factory one was stock go devil. , like on your lawnmower , push forward or pull back , usually needing two hands , with the return spring pulling back tension , I drive one handed and accelerate or decelerate as needed , it works for me .

 Re: Lever style throttle , 30$ , 20 minutes
I will try and get a pic of it tonight, but all I did was cut the cable clamp off the stock throttle leveler with a grinder. It fit perfectly in the new handle and was so rusted i couldn't get it off anyway. If I ever decide to go back to stock I will replace the whole assembly. Hope that helps.

 Re: Lever style throttle , 30$ , 20 minutes
These are the ends you can put onto the cable for the handle. You can get them in several different sizes and they're cheap like under $3 for a set of 4. Good luck and hope this helps

 Re: Lever style throttle , 30$ , 20 minutes
I still have the factory GD throttle and really don't see what the rave is all about with the brake lever throttle. I like to have my cruise control so I can sit down and run. On long runs I like to sit and drape my arm over the stick to keep the boat straight. I have no problem running my throttle with one hand. All you have to do is wrap your pinky over the top top operate the throttle and the rest of you hand to hold the tiller.

 Re: Lever style throttle , 30$ , 20 minutes
I used the recommended lever on my 35 GDLT. If I set the throttle cable so I get WOT it won't idle down. If I set the cable where it will idle properly I only get 3000rpm WOT. Does this mean I'm not getting enough travel?

 Re: Lever style throttle , 30$ , 20 minutes
This is an old thread , it worked but full travel was an issue . I eventually moved the whole lever further out as I changed motors and needed further travel. From 16 hp to 25 hp then 23 hp . I achieved this by using a thick dowel rod to mount lever on then mounted about a. 1-1/2" piece on actual handle for full travel . It's not ideal but it worked .Ive since switched to a superior designed full travel lever , bps ,that was all on my gdlt frames , that's what's on my backwater now. Get one of those and forget about travel length worry.

Thanks for the reply. Do you use the factory throttle cable with the BPS lever?
