Post subject: | blown motor |
i recently purchased an 2003 beavertail with a 18 hp briggs motor. The motor is pretty well screwed. Blown head gasket and the cylinders look like they were scored. Sooooo looking for a new motor for it. Question is do i find the exact replacement or could i put another motor on there? Could i put a 20 Kohler on there with minimal modifications? My other question is.... does anyone sell after market parts for Beavertail motors. I need to get some misc. parts for the prop and a new u-joint and yoke. Thanks for the help anything is appreciated. |

put a 23hp briggs on it and be happy... with no modifications... should be direct bolt on... as far as u-joint and yokes... just get the numbers off of them and go to your friendly neighborhood auto store if not number take the u-joint to them... they should be standard and easy to find... |

21hp briggs with a 9x5 prop thinkin thats what im gonna do. i think that the motor will bolt on with the existing holes on the motor plate. hopefully. going to call beavertail tomorrow. |
