Just finished my longtail yesterday. i got a set of plans off ebay and followed it from there. i'm using a 6.5 clone engine from harbor frieght and put a clutch on the prop shaft. i was surprised with the motor quality and how it's acted out of the water so far. but in the water and a few months down the road, we'll see if i'm still impressed. the prop is a 7x4 from hill marine. hopefully i'll have it in the water on monday or tuesday with pics and maybe a video soon to follow i hope. the boat it's mounted to is a homebuilt 14' jon boat, "big mama" design from gator boats. it's built out of plywood/fiberglass and worked very nice with a trolling motor, now time to see what is does with the longtail! |

can't wait to see the pics. My dad just replaced his 5hp go devil motor with the 6.5hp from harbor freight for like 90$ and it bolted right on perfectly with the older briggs and seemed to have ran great. |
