What speeds are you guys getting? I just finished putting my longtail together and am looking for some comparisons so I know if things are running right. I have a beavertail longtail frame with a 33 hp generac engine on a 1652 Lowe Roughneck with pods.

I am getting 10-12 with three guys, two dogs, and all of our gear.
18 mph with just me, two kids, and two dogs

What are your rpm's? Without a load on the trailer? With a light load? With a heavy load? If you don't have a tach, get one!

what size prop are you running?

Should have a little more speed unloaded and alot more speed than you have loaded.

Might be over-propped.

Did you completely build yourself? Where did you get your Generac?

i bought the frame and prop used as a unit and added the generac motor that i purchased from http://stores.ebay.com/Small-Air-Cooled-Engines. I have a few feelers out there for prop recommendations. I know it is a nine inch prop but i am not sure of the pitch. the original engine was a vanguard 35 that the guy took off and put on a short shaft.

If i remember right

rpm on the trailer is around 4000 rpm
around 3800 with the heaier load
around 3900 with the lighter load

the prop is slightly worn which is why i am looking for suggestions on size and brand of new prop

I have noticed that most 31 to 35hp motors come with a 9X6. I think I might be slightly overpropped to. I carry a pretty heavy load with a full aluminum blind, 3 dozen weighted keel decoys, 2 robo ducks, 2 200+lb guys, 1 dog, battery. Running a 31hp beavertail I got 14mph average. Haven't tried it bymyself. But either I'm overpowered or the motor isn't at full power because I can tell that it seems to be bogged slightly. You should be able to hear if the motor is bogging down badly, and thats a pretty good clue you need to try a smaller prop.
