Post Anyone know anything about the stumpjumper motors?
I'm looking at getting a longtail anywhere from a 6-9hp for a 1436. I like how light the stumpjumper is but can't really get any reviews for it. If anyone has any information on this I would like to know what you think. I've read a lot of about the go devils and mud buddy. I have experience with a buddy's surface drive and also a longshaft. So basically I'm tryin to get some information to help me decide which brand to buy...

I just bought a stumpjumper to push a 4 Rivers layout boat. It will go anywhere the boat will float and vegetation doesn't make a bit of difference. I got it because I liked the design a little better (I'm an engineer) and of course, price. It's not a speed demon, about 4 idling and 8 wound out, but it is torqey. You can't tell from the sound of the rpm whether it's in the water or not.
I'm pleased with it.

I will have to check out the copperhead. Its good to see that it does everything you want it to do. I hunt alot of marsh, flooded fields, and the Saginaw bay. Here I hunt a lot of different areas or types of terrain to get the birds. Just tryin to get a feel for that motor... Like you I liked the price, size and design.

I've had one for a little over a year now , no problems at all, I like how its built not much to go wrong, more than enough power for what I'm doing. Now that the ice in the creek by my shop is opening up I've been itching to take it out again, normally i can run up and down it all year, but with the flooding this fall and the cold we've been having it iced up pretty good. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for one in that power range.

Mostly I have it on a 10x36 jon that i use to run up and down the creek(very rocky) with me and maybe a kid or a large dog(300-350lbs total), and it maneuvers great. I've had it on a 14x36 many times and it works just fine no complaints at all, mostly running backwaters(vegetation, stumps, and sand with two adults and some gear not a lot of weight('cept for the fat guys). From talking to bill at stump jumper a 14' is really what it was designed to work best on. From what you're saying i think it'd work pretty good for you, i think they have free shipping right now too.

Thanks for the info, I talked to Bill about a month ago or so and he said good things about it and for being on a boat that size. I was looking for feedback from guys like you that have one. Thanks again by the way your input helps.
