got a new kill switch for my 16hp lt go devil but it still wont work. when u remove the key from the kill switch it wont kill the motor. it makes the wires connected to the kill switch very hot.. any suggestions on what is wrong? |

Look on the side of you cowling on the starter side there should be a terminal. The kill switch wire goes to that make sure it has a good ground there |

i have to install a complete kill switch on my 16hp van. purchased used ans there is not one on it? anyone have a close up photo of the wiring location? |

yea a terminal kill switch works in a normal open position and when you pull the cord it closes the circuit grounding the coils out, killing the engine. make sure the switch is grounded properly to the HANDLE, has no flat spots and is connected to the terminal ground screw which is if you are looking at the front of the motor will be on the right side next to the cowling. it should already have a wire from the ignition switch going to it. this is how the ingnition switch kills the motor. on mine i have the two connected together with a terminal ring. |

i think i misread ur posting. you replace your ignition switch? same thing it has to be connected to the terminal kill screw. IF it is, then take the cowling off and you should have a wire that runs to the coil packs. if it is broke or broke to just one, then the motor will ground on one cylinder and try to fire on the other. |

the killswitch has 2 plugs on it.. one is the ground that is on a bolt right beside the throttle lever. the other one runs to the motor and connects to a white wire that is connected to the wire harness that plugs into where the key is inserted..cant figure out what is wrong |

381447-0145_2.jpg ok look at the warning labels. see the screw or nut that is screwed into a white square insulator. that is the terminal ground. you should have three wires going to it. one wire from ignition switch, one from your lanyard kill switch and a white one that goes to the low oil pressure switch beside your oil filter. the white wire on your ignition goes to the fuel solinoid shut off on your carb. the white wire on the kill terminal goes to the oil pressure switch. |
