My stock muffler has an internal rattle; after taking it off of the motor i tried to shake out the pieces but they wouldn't budge. I was only able to remove a few small flakes of metal. What should I do about this?? My 35 longtail tacks at about 1250 out of the water, when i increase the throttle to 1350 i start to hear a very throaty rattle coming from the prop shaft. This noise continues until about 1650 rpm's then the engine runs quiet. If the prop is in the water when I increase the throttle i do not hear any of this throaty noise at all. I have had my prop re-worked and there is some wear on it. Clint said the noise could possibly be from an unbalanced prop, but if i can remember correctly my engine started to make this sound shortly after its first couple of hours. But down here in florida props are quickly subdued to hard sandy bottoms. Im not spitting any grease from the bearings or the u-joint and there is no vibration when i run my engine. Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated. |

Grease the shaft more frequently. Regular greasing should fix the chattering of the drive shaft in the tube. If not you may need to replace the center support bushing assuming that it has one. |
