is there anybody who has modified there skeg to make it longer? my prop blades are longer then the skeg and this adds to premature wear of my prop. can i make it longer in any way? |

The skeg isn't going to help much with prop wear, LT's start hitting bottom at about 11" so they do wear pretty fast if you run on a hard bottom. You can get a rock guard that will extend it some and keep it off of logs and rocks |

you can always grind it off if you dont like it. |

Post subject: | Re: longtail skeg? |
Or leave it stock and not worry, it would only make more drag and cause motor to dig deeper when in thick stuff. |

Or he could do it and when he hits a peice of re-bar he wont have to buy a new prop. |

yea like he said, i can always grind it off, plus money is tight so a new prop would burn a big hole in my pocket, hell it doesnt hurt to try it atleast. ![]() |

well i welded me up something today, got a piece of 2 inch flatbar, welded it on each side and down the gap in the middle. i left about an 3/4 gap from it to the prop. went try it out and all i can say is DAMN!! it made a huge difference in how much it protects my prop from. it didnt even get caught up in the weeds one time, and i fine it helps me control it a lil better, all i can say is that this was the biggest improvement i have ever dont to my go-devil ![]() |
