Post subject: | PROP HELP |
I have a long tail on a 14 x 36 rivet flat I went from a 9 hp with i assume is a 8x4 prop since that what go devil recommends for that hp to a 16 hp with the same wheel. With just me light boat before i was making 13 mph on gps to 16 mph with the new motor and a good 14 mph with two people. The 16 sounds like it is maxed out and probably is but i have no tach to tell. I was thinking of just getting the wheel worked up so should I make it a 9x4 or just add pitch to it and make it like an 8x7 or something of that nature? My goal is to get max mph with two people so I know being such a small boat i might have to go with a lil more wheel just not sure of how much. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. |

Thanks i was just worried a 9x4 would be to much for a 16 being GD recommends a 9x3 but i think it will work just as good |

Yup. 9x4 would do ya just fine. I run a 9x5 on my 16hp GDLT on my 1436 and it runs my big ass faster than any prop I've ever owned before. Ps- I'm 350+ lbs and I can run right around 19 with just me. if I overload the boat (say 3 guys + gear) I'll drop WAY down in speed. say... 12 mph or so. so yes, a 9x4 should be good for you. |
