Brake lever throttle and Motor will not rev up high enough
I know this has been on here before but i was wondering how you hook up a brake lever off a dirt bike for a throttle and how it works. Does it spring back to idle by itself? Another question is my motor when i pull the stock throttle will not run wide open. It seems like it will barely even rev up the only way I can get it to go on is hold the arm that goes to the carberator. Any suggestions on either point would be appreciated. The motor is a 01 25 horse kohler Go devil.

been there done that you have to find the right brake or clutch lever with the right amount of pull bicycle levers dont seem to have enough. and with the stock one you can tighten the set to have it like cruise control if you want mount the lever on the inside of the handle so all you do is push it down instead of pulling foward

i just went to Ace Hardware and got a variety of springs to find the right one to use to pull the throttle bracket back. took a little bit of trial and error but i finally got it right.

You can buy a throttle kit from Kohler with a return spring and the bracket to hold your cable. Google it. I use a bicycle brake handle, they are built with a return spring in the handle, smaller and cheaper.

I posted a bunch of photos on how I did mine. You could do a search. I used an old MB squeeze throttle cause it had the most throw of anything I found (plus, it was free). You have to adapt your mounting point on the throttle pivot arm on the slide assy to get full movement based on how much travel your lever will give. And yeah, you'll want to rig a return spring.
Keep on truckin, cause I think the result is well worth it.
