A 1644 alweld with a 16hp gd longtail. Told a freind of mine this boat and combo ought to be just about right. Told him the 1644 flat was just about right for the 16 hp lt. Then I told him we could find real fellas who would know here. So..... What kind of performance do y'all think this combo could have? How do these two look together? |

It is better than nothing, but with two people you are barely going to get on step |

I think it'll be a good lil setup. The 16 is a strong lil motor, hence the little engine that could reference... Won't be a speed demon, and like J said, your gonna spend a lot of time plowing along with any kind of load, but it should plow along at decent speed. Most boats I've ridden in with a 16 run around 15 empty and 10-12 loaded down. I would think you'd be somewhere in that neighborhood. |

I have a 16 GDLT on my 1436 rivited boat, but it hauls my big ass (375lbs) plus my gear and 1 other guy really well. the only problem is when I overload it, is slows down a LOT. for example, me, my brother and one other guy (all big dudes) and hunting gear, it doesnt get on step and just pushes a fatty wake all the way across the lakes. but hey, its better than walkin, by a long shot! |

I have a 16 crawfish model on a 1436 hooked and fcked up boat and I can hit 16.2 with me (280) and fishing gear. With me and another big fella with a hunting load I can get bout 11-12 |

I have a 13hp beavertail on a 1440 with extra large pods that makes it about a 15.5 x 40 and measured by GPS get 11-12 mph empty but with the dog, decoys, gear, and another person in the boat I only get 6-7mph. With a 16hp, you probably would only get a few mph faster - probably 15 - 16 mph empty and maybe 9-10 mph fully loaded down. |

My 16 on a 1648 riveted jon, read light, goes real good with just me. With me a dog and 8 doz longlines goes real good no gps so just estimates. Me dog gear and son 100lbs still goes decent not as fast but not plowing. Me gear dog and nieghbor, hits the wall goes about 8 mph. |

1644 Alweld with a 16hp Go-Devil Longtail 3 Kids 1 Dog 5 gallons of gas 1 small toolbox 1 marine battery Ice chest full of beer and juice boxes and snacks for my brats and all our fishing gear. And a wore out prop at least 3/4" smaller than stock oh and also a couple lawnchairs and a few sticks of georgia fatlighter to get the weenie roasting fire started on the swampside sandbar. I dont have a GPS but it gets on step just fine. And goes about as fast as a guy safely could on the waters I run it in. ![]() |
