I am considering to get a 2nd rig to run...
I am looking for a small flat like 10x32 all weld.
Why so small? So I can frog an run lines easier an go threw tighter areas and pick up my boat to move off of logs over levys by myself...
Not knowing much about long tails...My question is what size long tail to go with? My max load would be 200lbs (ice chest, gas, battery, me, an gear)
Boat n motor will be used tryin to stay under $600... Lookin to get bout 12 mph at least... Not planning on long runs...

All input is welcome!
Thanks

I at one point was looking into the same thing to hunt refuges but maybe just alittle bit bigger boat maybe for 2 people, but being as i like advanced stuff i was going to go with the 12hp Copper SD to put on the back of maybe like a 12' 38" boat or something

i use to have a 1432 rivet hull with a 6.5 gdlt the best i ever got was 10 mph just me and about 150lbs of gear. long tails seem to work best on longer skinny boats but skinny boats dont do as well with loads but it didnt sound like you'll have that problem.

My best friend runs a 1442 with a 23hp longtail. Its kinda a death trap but fun as hell. Even with that big motor he easly moves it by himself. and you can hit in the 20s with it for speed

i had my 25hp strapped to a 1436 for a couple outings before i got my big boat. if i were to get a smaller boat going it would be a 1436 with a 13-16hp or a copperhead

How good would a 12hp push threw mud?

Never ran one but i would imagine if you are running and hit the mudd you'll be fine, now i don't think you can stop in pure mudd like the big motors and take off again, may be lacking the bottom end torque for that. But all in all if i build me a lil mud rig it'll be with the 12hp copperhead for sure

Yea, deff not gunna be my prodrive... But jus lookin to putt putt in swamp an further back in the slus, so mainly soft bottoms jus don't want it be underpowered an be a bust.. I herd people talk good of the 16hp Honda... So my formula may be 16 hp Honda 4ft gdlt on a 10-12 skiff/flat...
I have a good friend That fabricates/builds boats at GATORTRAX boats, so we may try to build a godevil frame considering there is all the material we need (of course will have to pay for it)... and experienced people to direct us...
Has anyone built/attempted such a project personally?
