How well would a 6.5 longtail push you through vegetation, mainly pads? Mud isn't really a factor on the lake we hunt, but the lily pads are so thick an outboard is out of the question. My boat is 15'8'' and 52'' wide. It is fairly light and the motor needs to be light as well that's why I was thinking 6.5. It's basically a gheenoe, if you know what that is. Is this enough power to get the job done, I'm sure it will be pretty slow, but really just need to be able to get through the vegetation. Thanks for the help.

Have a 6.5 we used a couple of times last year. It ate thru some heavy hydrilla type grass in the marsh in a couple of inch's of water. I'm not sure how it'll do with the lily pad stems. It pushed 3 men and gear but it's not fast.

I have a 6.5 longtail on a 17 foot square back canoe. I run it through stargrass on the river and barely even hiccups. Stargrass is like long tangles of rope.
