Have a GD long tail. What do I need to check or do to make sure it is ready for the season? I keep it lubed and it doesn't seem to use a lot of oil or grease and the shaft housing seems to stay realtively cool. I see a little seepage around the prop but ovrerall not much. The motor I change all the oil, filters, plugs, and starter rope each season.

make sure the shaft and u-joints dont have any play, the shaft may have a little little tiny bit, thats normal. if its holding grease then its pretty much good to go. maybe gap your plugs, change fuel filter, check the wear on your prop... not much to it.

Here is what I used to do. Pull the rope or turn the key, If it would crank up, Id run the piss out of it. Thats about it.

But seriously, sounds like you are in good shape. As long as its not losing much grease youre good. Make sure the u joint doesnt have much slack and keep it greased up good.

Change oil and filter every spring, check the plugs
Run some seafoam every now and then
Every other outing check/grease it
