So we are down to the nitty gritty of design ideas before we begin the build and have come to the cavitation plate... The guy who built the motor said the hardest part he had was adjusting the cavitation plate, he said he had to weld it up go run the thing then go home, cut it off and weld it back on at a different angle. (see red cav plate in picture) He has access to a welder at his house and im not so fortunate. ![]() ![]() Thanks for the help, and sorry for the 2 minute paint sketch-up! |

when i built mine last week i just made it so the end of the cavitation plate sat 1/2" above my prop, and bent the trailing edge down on a slight angle. took her out for the first test run and it works amazing. the plate makes the prop sit just under the water. |

I have the same plans as solo, they say 1/2" above prop.I went 1" above just in case I want to run a bigger prop. I ran my cav. plate straight so I could bolt on a bendable piece like the second diagram. In the instructions it says to bend the last inch of the plate down, but to me that would make you slower as well as loose torque. In effect acting like a parachutte. |

Can't you use a nut and bolt setup of some sort to get the angle, and then weld once you have the correct pitch? (can't see the pics, work filter) |

Sure , I don't see why not. But if you are going to wind up weldin it anyhow just do it so your not wasting time drilling holes? |
