I have a 13hp Honda on a MudBuddy frame on my 1648. I was running a 8x5 and borrowed an 8x6 from my local dealer to try. Here is the deal. After getting the 8x6 I could tell that the 8x5 was slightly smaller in diameter. Maybe by 3/4" overall. With the 8x5 my motor would rev out easily so I thought I would try an inch more pitch and see if it could turn it. No bueno.... it wouldn't even come close to revving out. Can you get props in 1/2" pitch increments? How much difference would that extra 3/4" diameter have made?

My boat planes with only me in it with the 8x5 but seems to be just a mph or two short with another person. I was hoping the 8x6 would cure that but that 1" pitch makes a much bigger difference from a 5 to a 6 rather than a 19 to a 20 on my outboard.

I need some opinions.

Was the cup still on the 8x5?

On a big boat like that with a small hp motor, going down an inch in pitch would prolly have better results.

I guess I don't know what you mean by the cup. The blade was still cupped if that is what you are asking. Honestly, I don't know if the 8x4 would help. It already revvs out with the 8x5 and seems to get up to speed fairly fast..... I would think it would go slower with the 8x4?

Your Thoughts?
