The rivers in our area look to run high this waterfowl season. There will most likely be some deeper channels to cross that won't be possible by wading/walking. Would a longtail be a good/reliable motor to cross channels and push 2-3 guys and gear a 1/4 -1/2 mile upriver? What would be the optimum horsepower on a 16' boat to get the above job handled? What would be the lowest horsepower that would work? Thanks |

Are you just looking to go across channels 4 feet deep, or run it in the woods and shallow water too? |

Maybe some shallows but probably not too much. Our shallows are straight sand, so if I run shallows a lot I would go through props like crazy. |

Why a mud motor, is there a lot of vegetation and trash floating in the water or something? Sounds like a 40 merc and a jack plate fits your needs. |
