I have a option to buy a 1644 go devil boat with a 25hp go devil longtail. I have yet to ride in the boat and was wandering what to expect for speed. I know longtails arent built for speed but I would at least like it to plane off. What should I expect fully loaded? (3 guys, decoys, battery, fuel, etc) Is this rig going to plane off with a full load? |

Yes it will plain out, and I would guess in the 16 to 18 mph range. |

I will guess with that load, 12-16 mph. Alot depends on how much wear the prop has and what prop your gonna run.. And if your running up river or down river has alot to do wit speed.. ![]() Get two of ya buddys and take the boat for a test run.. |

I run a GD 1644 with a 24lt and I don't think you will see 16 mph with that load. When I have 3 guys in the boat including myself with bowfishing gear (platform/lights, generator, extra batteries, cooler, and a bucket with fish in it it will only plane out if the stars align and you re-arrange the weight in the boat. With that said, that is probably more weight than what your decoys will add up to. I don't think the boat will have any problem planing out, but don't expect 16-18 mph out of it. I would bet you will be in that 13-14 mph range. Sometimes it's tough getting realistic speeds out of people on here, but with the right prop and conditions you may certainly be able to get a bit better speeds than I'm seeing. Good luck and I hope this helps. |

Don't mind MSB, he must be smoking something. 13-14 is about right. |

Reason I said 16-18 is you dont know how big buddys are, or if boat is hooked up, or prop wear or anything most he could expect in perfect conditions is about 18 |

I wouldn't hit 18 with 3 people in the boat if there was no gear and everybody was naked and paddling. |

I've got a 1644 gd boat with a 25 kohler go devil longtail. I can assure you that you will not hit 16-18 mph with the load you are talking about. When turning about 3530 or so rpm's with a slightly wore down prop, you will run about 18 mph with a very light load. You'll be running about 13 with the heavy load you are talking about. i run about 15-16 with 2 hunters 2 dozen decoys, 80lb dog, and gear. |
