24 hp beavertail speeds on 1646 legandcraft
I have an all welded 1644 legandcraft with a 24 hp Honda beavertail LT . I am only getting 15 mph with 2 people on the boat. It is a tall transom, I am assuming that might have some thing to do with it. If any one has any experience or ideas please let me know.

Also forgot to add that the prop is very worn and has a knife edge on it and I will be putting a bigger 9x6 on there soon; currently has a 9x5 I think

You answered your own problems.
Cut that transom down!

Re: 24 hp beavertail speeds on 1646 legandcraft
my uncle had a 24 beavertail on a 16x48 custom hull,we never checked it with a gps but it was no speed demon. It was a tall transom hull and the motor was ordered to match the hull. When you replace the prop you should see a difference. Before I cut the transom I'd look into what that motor was setup for.

Ha well I prolly won't be cutting into the boat. That's half the reason why I wanted the tall transom so water won't come over the back.
