 Need help
I am new to the mud motor scene and have some issues. I built a homemade mud motor with a 420cc engine. it runs great and everything but doesn't have power to push the boat good at all. It is a 14ft flatbottom. When you first put the prop in the water it takes off good but then you can tell it bogs down, if you raise it up and then back in the water it revs up and accelerates before it bogs down to a slower speed. The shaft is set at a 14 degree angle and i bought a backwater prop that they recommended for that motor. Not really sure about the cavitation plate but it is about an inch above the prop. Is there anything anybody can recommend to help.
Thanks, Cody

 Re: Need help
Get the prop checked for pitch, when I first built a 16 hp longtail I ordered a prop from them depending on them to know what I needed, the package stated 9x5 which was what would go on a 20+ hp motor, godevil uses a 9x3 and the local prop shop recommends a 8.75 x 4 , I had the prop checked out due to motor bogging down and it was actually a very thick 9x7
So just based on my experience, u have the wrong prop on it
