I did just that using a 3/4" ID 1 5/8" OD sealed bearing. I have built both and I have to say the bearing setup is way more solid than the busing set up and runs much cooler and quieter. To get the bearing to fits I used three pieces of tubing. The main drive shaft housing was 1.01 ID 1.25 OD and something like 60 inches long. Then to get the bearing to fit I used a short piece of 1.25" ID 1.625" OD that slid over the end of the drive shaft housing. Over than a short piece of 1.625" ID tubing. The last piece can be any OD. I know it seems a little over complicated but once you get it all together it looks fairly clean. Buy DOM tubing, it ends up fitting the best. You can get all the stuff shipped to your door pretty easy from places like online metals or other places like that. I included a link to the bearing I used and a link to the metals page on online metals. I also attached a little diagram to help show what I was trying to say, I'm not very good with words so hopefully the picture will help explain it. Hope this helps. http://www.amazon.com/PRB-34-Double-Sea ... 347&sr=8-1 http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cf ... op_cat=197[album][/album] |

Thanks for the info but i did just about the same thing i got a gas pipe reducer and got it machined to take a sealed roller bearing like you said its so much cooler you could touch it all day if you wanted and the amount of grease leaking out is way less now its like a rabbit turd compared to a cow patty the bushing use to leak lol |
