Has anyone put a small lt on a small jon boat? I found a 10' jon real cheap and was thinking about buying just to try it out.

with the weight balanced right in the boat. it should work real slick. probably only get about 8 to 10 mph. but you will be able to push through just about anything.

Thats what i'm hoping. Speed isn't that important but the water is really low over here and I need to be able to go where others can't.

just make sure you dont overload the boat too much. stick close to the weight regs stamped on the boat. i run about 50 to 60 pounds over my boat capacity with a 7hp sd on the back and it runs really good. i just have to take extra care of what i am doing. if you have a dog and its a wild sob, make it sit and stay. i also wont try and whip the boat around while cruisin. would just be asking to flood the boat. float pods would certainly help. but more of an issue with these small boats is that they are tippy.
