 200 beavertail question....
I have a 2000 20hp beavertail that I need to change out the bearings (bushing?) on. On the top is a screw on bearing assembly but on the bottom there are (3) bushings in that shaft with a cap on it.
Now I have been round and round with beavertail and they don't seem to remeber ever having bushings in there lower drive shaft assembly.
Does anyone have history with this vintage of beavertail? I have had too cut the shaft between the u joint and top bearing because the thing was pretty good and stuck. There is more to the story but to avoid going into a tyrade i'll keep it too my simple question.
New to the forum, thanks in advance for any help.

 Re: 2000 beavertail question....
OK i'll try again, I know somebody knows.
I have the drive shaft assembly apart. I have a new shaft, prop everything is ready to go. The only problem is I can not find the lower brass bearing. Beavertail doesn't have it anymore. They told me to get it from Fastenal and they do not have the right size.
This is the last thing I need and I have a week to get this motor together. does anyone know where I can get a replacement bearing? The bore diameter is 3/4" X 1 1/32'+/- X 2" long with a flange, maybe it's metric I don't know.
I was told they changed the lower assembly about 5 years ago, I can't believe I can't find this part.
HELP!

 Re: 200 beavertail question....
A local machine shop or trade school could handle that no problem. Be sure to take them the bore that the bearing goes into for them to mic.

 Re: 200 beavertail question....
Update:
I talked to just about every beavertail dealer in the country and no one have this bronze bearing. Even had a dealer call up the original company that made beavertail (fischer). Long story short, gave up on trying to find one and went to a machine shop and am having one turned.
Wasn't cheap but I may be on the water for opening day.
Thanks for the help, new boat and motor coming soon...

 Re: 200 beavertail question....
what is item#94083 here? http://www.explorebeavertail.com/parts.htmli can understand them maybe wantint you to bring the motor to a beavertail dealer so you have to pay them to do the change, but according to you the dealers said they dont even have the bushings.. that is absolutely HORRIBLE service! for the future though, you can get a micrometer and measure the id and od and get your parts from mcmaster carr, they sell anything, not the greatest prices IMO, but good shipping always.

 Re: 200 beavertail question....
wm, You would think that was the part and that is what I ordered, it is not what is in my motor. Those are stainless steel bearings, I actually have a Broze Bearing (really a bushing). Not the right parts. Like I said, I have an older motor, I'm a little suprised that they don't have a big box of parts that where used on older model motors but so be it. The company was sold about 5-6 years ago so they don't care much about older motors.
I searched McMaster Carr, Fastenal, Grainger and actually ordered a few bearings that I hoped would fit....this is not a stock bushing, it is a goofy size. I am picking up the new bearing today from the machine shop. I had to buy a foot of stock and have (2) made now if I can get the u-joint (that I know fits) from beavertail on time, I can actully get back in the water.

 Re: 200 beavertail question....
this is interesting because ive always been told that they like most the otheir mm. co. when up grading they make the parts to fit both new and old ? nice to know. we have a place in town called bearing headquarters and i have never found a part they couldnt get for any bearing or bushing but ill have to check in to this one for sure

 Re: 200 beavertail question....
thats a new one for me. i had a 13 btlt in about 1999 and at that time they advertized bearing drive. the refuge talk was gd, bushings and grease, mb with the tapered bearing and bt with the roller bearings, whos was best.
