Post subject: | Longtail Balance point question |
I'm planing a home build 6.5hp longtail and would like to know where the pivot point should be. I have not run a mud motor so I don't have a hands-on feel for them. Is it best to make it motor heavy, tail heavy, neutral? How heavy (pounds at tiller or prop) if not neutral? It will have a cav plate if that makes a difference. Did a search, but didn't find my answer.... Thanks! Sandor27 |

go to your local lt dealer and see what theirs is, it should be evenly balanced. the biggest factor is transom heighth, and makin sure your cav plate is leveled. i made mine a little tail heavy so it would dig a little easier, but not much so its not a pain to lift the prop. again, biggest issue is makin sur eyour cav plate is where it needs to be. |

I like mine just slightly tiller heavy when it breaks over level, so you don't have to tie it down every time you stop. |
