 battery wire size!!!!!!

Post battery wire size!!!!!!
What would be the best size wire I could get away with for running about 8-10ft of battery cable to my motor?
I was thinking #6 like trolling motor wire , but didnt know if that was over kill or not!!!!!!! :geek:

Thank you for the help!!!! and by the way i tried to use the search feature and nothing came up!!!!! I had seen this post before and was trying to find it but could not. I put in every thing but battery+size, So no its not really your friend if you cant remember the exact title, :shock:

fwiw. The dealer wired my boat with #6 wire (bow to stern). It looks a bit on the light side to me, but it works fine. Since I paid for it, I did not go to the expense of upgrading it. Besides, we're starting a lawnmower, not a Detroit Diesel.

Check the wire price at your local welding supply. The stuff they sell is fine grade and has some sort of neoprene covering. It isn't tinned like marine grade wire, but it should be tough as hell.

I just wired my winch with #4 welder cable. It looks like good stuff. I thought the price was reasonable, and the shop offered to install the end connectors too.

Thank you I am going to go with #6 i guess !!!!! thats what they used on my 20 ft skeeter, for the troll motor so?????? lol, also bo I really need a breaker?
