How would my 20hp GDLT run on a 1748 flat bottom?

 Re: 1748 with GDLT
with the 20 max speed about 17mph with a 23 about 20mph. as far as performance the 23 is the way to go. More power and less weight. Also the vanguard parts are less expesive than hondas.

 Re: 1748 with GDLT
Thanks. I already have the 20hp, its a Vanguard. Will I be able to plane with two people and gear? How about three?
I have an opportunity to buy a 23hp GDLT, if its gonna make a big difference I will get it.

 Re: 1748 with GDLT
I doubt 3 hp is worth the hastle of buying and selling. I have a Grizly 1548 and a 27 hp Backwater LT on it and I do plane with a fair load and 2 people. 3 I am hesitant to think it will plane (may with moving some weight around to get it on plane). I make between 15 and 17 mph depending on all factors. That is on a Grizly which is not known to be a fast boat, as it is NOT a flat bottom. It is quite stable and runs well, just not fast.
I am new at this whole MM thing so my opinion is not worth much, but oh well I gave it anyhow.

I have 1548 alweld with a 18hp go devil lt. I gps'ed my boat today with 3 people. (180, 230, 105). I couldnt get my boat above 13mph. I can run 16 mph with 2 people. Maybe this can help you.
