Post subject:  27 kohler starting problem

Hello,

I have a 27hp kohler (beavertail) longtail. This morning after running it to the blind and parking for a few hours, it was hard to start. It cranked slow like it had a dead battery. It started and ran rough for a few minutes then acted fine. I turned it off and on a few times and it started normal a few times and acted like the battery was weak or dead a few times. When I got home I put the battery on charge and the charger said it had a full charge. The battery is about 2.5 years old. Do I have a bad battery, or could I have other problems?

Thanks

Check all of your power connections really well. Could be some wires worked loose inside of a terminal or somethin so look closely. The way you describe it, it def sounds electrical.

Don't ever turn it off and on after you've had trouble. You better keep that bastatd running til you hit the bank..

Took battery to Autozone. They tested it 3 times and got 3 different results. 1 good, 1 bad and 1 charge and retest. They didnt have a marine battery I wanted, so I want to Advance. For Fun I asked them to test battery. I came up good????????????

Im hoping I had a poor connection to the battery. I have started 100ish times since getting home and have not had another problem.

Check the 12v connection at the starter and also the ground to the frame. Look closely at the connectors, remove any tape or heat shrink if necessary. Make sure they aren't loose or extremely corroded.

Ran the boat all day yesterday and did not have a problem. I suspect it was a poor connection to the battery, but not sure.
