Post subject:  Longtail build questions Help

Hey guys, I'm bout to start fab work on a custom longtail. I have all the steel, bearings, Engine, u-joints ect.. Gonna be using a 12.5 hp kohler. All I need is prop and lower bearing housing. I'm needing prop suggetions. Gonna be on a 1542 allweld john boat. 2 guys, dog and gear. making short runs. speed is not a big deal to me but want to get a good balance of torque and speed. prop size??? brand???

Next on prop end I'm using a bronze flange bushing. similar to go devil. I just want to find a seal housing like they use. Or do you guys have any Ideas on how I can seal the shaft? I had an idea to thread a smooth flow reducer pipe coupling to the tube. It reduces to 1" id which i bought some rod wiper seals to match id of pipe and shaft. but it wont have a cap like go devil. I dont know if those seals will last without being held by a cap. Ideas or input??

If any one has a old go devil frame with one ove these housings Id buy it off ya.

Thanks guys once I get going on this I will keep yal posted and have pics up...yall are gonna like thise one!! not gonna be some homade junker!!

I built one last winter and ran the crap out of it this year and works great no problems at all. As for bearing housing the best thing I found was a electric fitting that bad a cap on it than I welded a washers with a 3/4 hole on it for the shaft. Pm me if you want more info/pictures

As far as prop I bought a prop from backwater some people on here say stay a way from them but I had good dealings with them
