Post Longtail bogging down
Got a mudbuddy 27hp kawa longtail with 9x7 prop. When you put the prop below the waters surface the motor bogs bad even at full throttle. The motor runs fine out of the water at full throttle. The carb has been cleaned and checked. The gorverner seems to be working. Any ideas as to what is wrong?

sounds like firing on one cylinder or starving for fuel. check spark both sides, then fuel flow/ pour gas directly in carb under load. fuel line may be restricted/fuel pump etc..

Fuel pump is what i was thinking. I has an electric fuel pump. It just puzzle me as the only time it does it is when it is under a load. I can run it full throttle out of the water and it runs great.

The symptom you describe is classic for running on one cylinder. I'd check for spark first.

Do you have a OMC style hose connection from the hose to gas tank? They SUCK!! remove and get a parker hose barb and run the fuel line directly to the gas tank

sounds like you have a bad coil. like others have said only running on one cylinder.

I'd been fighting the same problem with my 16 vanguard. While the engine's running, pull each spark plug cap and see if you notice a difference in the amount the engine is bogging down. Mine didn't make a difference when I pulled the left one, but it killed when I pulled the right one. I started checking all the electrical stuff to that cylinder and ended up finding the coil arcing to ground on the engine block. A little silicone on it and it's fixed. Good luck
