Ok lets hear it what is the problem with them? I asked the same question about this about bog hog and hill marine props and I get the same thing ....stay away. I need to know why. I am asking because I bought a back water prop and I have had good luck with it . I dont want to put anyone on the spot but share some info with me other than (dont do it )....

 Re: backwater inc motor
OK i called and ordered a prop. said he had problems with other people and would only take check. i mailed check, waited for a week, check hadn't cleared. i called,he said son was in charge of money and hadnt cashed check.waited another week, finally saw where check had cleared my bank, then came the excuses. out of town, got to the post office to late, son was supposed to mail, then they quit answering phone. 20 days later! i call local sheriffs department and a deputy went to his shop and made him mail it. The sheriff told me that he honestly didnt think he would have mailed it if he hadnt interviened. That was my experience.

Hmmmm, makes me wonder if your arlon. Because then that would make sense. I am not trying be an azz, but the way they deal with people makes me think its a 40 year old man living with his mom still and probably funding his operation with her life savings. This guy has no understanding about customer service and or just sending people what they pay for.

Thats to bad garjacker I hate to hear that , maybe I was lucky or he is got his shiz together, who knows but it does sound like backwater86 might be arlon. I hope not , I dont think it would be right to misrepresent yourself as someone else.

Gecker- was a guy on here a while back, that had a sponsership spot on here, till he stopped sending people what they ordered and all. Tony B the law in the land soon got rid of him there after.

 Re: backwater inc motor
i purchased a prop thru ebay, got concerned due to not getting a confirmation email etc. requested a prop for a 16hp motor, the prop arrived within 4 or 5 days, main concern was no one answered phone calls or barely responds to emails. Prop looked good but usually for a 16 hp you use a 8.75 x 4 or a 9 x 3, mine came in labelled a 9x5 but it bogged my motor down severely
local prop shop put a guage on it and it is a 9 x7 which is what you would run on a 25 hp, the prop is heavy duty though, just be sure you know what you want instead of letting them decide for you, i have had to get it cut down and they also tried to repitch it and reduce the cup in it,
needed it this week so did not have time to hassle with going back thru ebay to state i did not get exactly what was ordered etc.

 Re: backwater inc motor
it was a backwater inc prop, purchased off of ebay, did not see the ron hill available till after i had already ordered this one, it is super heavy duty and weedless, came in balanced but it stated it was a 9 x 5, the blades are real thick which would be good on a 25 or so, local prop shop measured it and it is actually a 9x7 with a lot of cup in it, boat will run only 8 mph with 3 adults in it, prop shop worked on it but stated not alot they could do with it without possibly damaging it, they cut it down to 8.75 and changed it to a 9x6 and reduced the cup, with 2 people it will go 13 mph but should be able to get it up to 17-18 with 2 people
hindsite, i should have purchased one locally that had the correct pitch and thickness instead of sending them my hp requirements and hoping for the best

 Re: backwater inc motor
I dont think you will get 17-18 with any 16 hp without mods on it. Im running a 20 empty and gettin 17 with just one person.

 Re: backwater inc motor
prop on ebay was 169.00
my brother in law has a 14 foot xpress 38 inch bottom with a 16hp on it, with two people, ( teenagers, probably about 275# together, it will gps at 17-18 mph, has a stock vanguard motor on it, so that is what i was basing my speed on

 Re: backwater inc motor
no, just a straight stock setup, i am not sure what prop is on it i tried a worn 9x5 prop on my setup yesterday and with the boat empty, me and my son, together about 325# gps at 13.7 mph top speed but that is straight stretch, with 3 people in boat and decoys (hunting load) i get 9 mph, which i was following my brother in law yesterday morning and they had about the same weight load and they left me, i am beginning to feel the 16hp duromax motor is more like a 12 or 13 hp actual output.
with 1 person empty the boat with run about 15-16 mph now. i would be happy if i could run a strong 13 mph loaded,

 Re: backwater inc motor
What are you guys thinking of these motors. I'm picking one up next week. Ipriced bearings, they are running about the same price at the bearing shop as my mb lt. Typical engine warranty on the kohler, and a good warranty on the shaft. I plan on doing some mods to 27 kohler on it, any suggestions for mods?

 Re: backwater inc motor
I'm loving my 27 HP Backwater, I'm pushing 21 mph on it with a 15X42 War Eagle. I've been running the hell out of it since I picked it up in July. I think it may be time for a new prop already! Hey WM, I wanna get out and scout the Miss next week now that week can hunt it before the southern opener, I may be heading that way in 2 weeks to scout and do a mud run if you wanna finally meet up.
