 9x7 on a 23 longtail
anyone ever run a 9x7 on a 23 lt?
looking for performance in open water, and max rpms acheived in water.
thinking about trying one on a 17x42 skiff for turkey season, no mud, 2 people max. pretty sure the motor will turn the prop and scoot, just wondering if I'll get max rpms.
I know someone has tried something this simple with the modding that goes on here... appreciate any responses.

 Re: 9x7 on a 23 longtail
How many RPM's will it turn with the 9x6 that's on it with that load?
It'll drop you about 200 RPM's

Why set governor at 3600? Are you sure its bumping the governor at 3600?

 Re: 9x7 on a 23 longtail
Wont be much difference in speed. If your 9x6 is in good shape then keep it as its not worth repropping. Your boat will dictate how much prop you can turn.A long skinny boat that will get on step easy and let you run planed out with a load will allow a bit more prop.A short wide boat with a load will not plane as easy and you will need a smaller prop to get enough rpm to plane out as its loaded up.
