Best brand long tail, best engine
Everyone,
I'm not trying to start a war, I'm just curious if there is a consensus what's the best brand of long tail motor, and what's the best engine.
I'm in the market for longtail and I'd appreciate any input you guys could give me.
Thanks! Greg

What size boat and transom height are you putting it on? I would keep it between Go-Devil Mudbuddy and Back water if I were buying new with the backwater being my first choice.
all the engines are reliable, just depends on hp wanted and personal preference.

War!! No war here - just our opinions
I like GoDevil but if I was buying a new motor - Back Water all the way.
I do really like the Briggs engines.

"Owning a go devil is like owning a honda accord"
Is that a good thing?

Re: Best brand long tail, best engine
Disregard the accord thing, it's a inside joke.
For the boat to achieve the same speeds as a 20 outboard you will want a 35 longtail, but a 35 lt is a Beast to drive. Are you wanting to plane this hull out?
If I'm not mistaken, 8 meters is about 25 feet... That is a huge boat! How wide is it across the bottom?
