I'm am fixing to buy a new prop for my 29 Kawasaki. I have been looking at tiger props, godevil props, and back water. I need yalls opinion as to which prop would be the most durable and preforme the best. I'm pretty sure I need a 9x7, but what would it do if I went bigger?

I just bought a hill marine prop, havent tried it out yet. There is a big difference between this prop and my old tiger prop, the old one seems to have wider blades.

Do the backwaterinc props get better speed that the same prop from a different manufacturer?
What makes them better in your opinion?

I don't have one, I use the tiger props, but everything I have seen on here says they are more than adequate. Just a standard lt prop, nothing more nothing less.

I made the mistake of buying a ron hill prop. P.O.S. My wore out factory prop still had more cup in it than his, plus the Hill prop even though was touted asbeing the same was half the freakin size. Went over to my cousins and compared it to his 6.5 lt and was almost a duplicate. Not exactly what is needed for a 25

A lot of trial and error in getting the right prop. I presently run a Ron Hill 9x6 on my 27 MB LT. The first Tiger prop sheared on some coral rock- or at least that is what I attributed it to, even though I went back over the spot and could not find the protruding rock- a friend sheared on after hitting a turtle! I am sure there are many other anecdotal prop tales out there. The Ron Hill prop was bought as a backup to my first Tiger and it ran exactly 1 mph slower but with less vibration. I used a GD for a couple of years until that got worn down by sand/marl, that happens real quick. We don't have much mud here, mostly veggies and all of them have pushed through that real good. The second recommended 9x7 Tiger had too much cup I think and ran slower with more vibration. My friends have run both GD and MB props with success. I may have to try backwater next, from reading all the positive reports. I must report that the Hill prop has worn less than GD props from new, so it is stout. I was also very happy that I got it real cheap on Ebay a few years ago. Other reports cite the Hopkins props for LT's very positively. Since I am near sea level, perhaps the Tiger props had too much/too little cup and pitch?
My suggestion is to contact the mfg. of your Kaw 29 and get their input. I once experimented with a 3 bladed GD prop, that was with an 18 HP GD LT, and that was good in clean water but in grass it would bind and a ball of rope of would form and I'd have to cut it off. GD only marketed it for a short while and then went totally with the 2 bladed SW design.

Well I got the backwaterinc in and got it out on the water. It runs about 2 mph faster than my previous tiger prop. You can really tell a difference in the quality of steel that the props are made of. I have not made it to the mud yet , but I know I put my motor through hell, I don't think this prop will last me to long. Next time I'll just spend a little more money and get the tiger prop.

walms-du, something no one addressed to your initial query was what if you went up a size on the prop? On the MB site for instance, the 29 Kaw motor is rated or recommended for a 9x7 prop (longtail of course). My 27 MB Kohler is also rated for the 9x7 but I noticed right away after testing that the 9x6 prop turned more rpms and I went about 2 mph faster. A lot depends where you run and what the aqua-terrain is like. I mentioned we have hard bottom, a sand/marl mix that will quickly eat up any prop (GD, MB, Hill, etc.) so we try and not run in it. Has your new backh20 prop already wore down significantly? I think that all the mfg.'s make comparable props as far as quality goes. If you run a lot of mud, perhaps more cup is warranted. A > 9x7 prop may not be a good idea but worth testing. So far the new backh20 prop users reports are positive with no reports indicating premature wear or breaks. Good mudding!
