Does anyone have any suggestions on a small hp longtail, probably 6-8 hp? I would love a small hp surface drive, but just can't afford one. Needs to be light so I can remove it easily. I looked into the stump-jumper longtails and was interested, but when I went to their site today it was no longer in service |

I think I am going to go with the stump-jumper since it is so light. Thanks for the offer however. I have read excellent reviews on the go-devils, but they just weigh a little much for my application. |

i built one using plans from ebay for about 450 bucks i used a gx160 honda motor off a pressure washer and a 7 x 4 prop and it pushes a 12 foot john boat with 465 pounds of weight pretty good at 60% throttle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BW8d7rLHbI |

I've got a 7hp stumpjumper on a grumman sport boat. Great combo. |

If you can find some pics the stump jumper is ideal to copy. simple frame that the handle detatches and reverses to carry, and it prop has a little more output at the prop cause they have a chain coupler instead of a u joint. friend copied one and loves it. |

If your lookin for somethin more light weight with not as much power check out Cajun Crawdad Motors. They are basically the size and weight of an oversized wear eater. Idk about horse power but they have different cc sizes to check out. But they are for smaller sneak boats or 10-12 ft light weight johnboats. |
