Well here is my new to me motor I just bought. A 20hp mud buddy long tail. I just finished giving it a fresh coat of o.d. Green paint and ordered me a new 9x5 prop and new lower seals. It had a little grease drip so I am going to replace the seals while I have the prop off. Now I know what everybody means when they say mud motor props are a bitch to remove. A pipe wrench a prop wrench and a 5' cheater pipe. DAMN. Now I can't wait to get the parts in so I can get it on my boat and go run it

I also ordered a 1/2 gallon of gator glide g2 to coat the bottom of my boat. Any of you guys use this stuff and how do you like it? Is it worth the $120 ?

Don't know about the gator glide, but I used a similar product, Steelflex (Fasco corp.), and it is very good. We actually managed to do three 1648 jon boat hull bottoms with one gallon so my cost was a third. It will reduce friction while running over veggies and mud, make trailering and untrailering of the boat a lot easier (keep the hull clipped to the trailer when backing down the ramp or she'll slide off!), seal loose rivets on a rivetted hull, give you a little sideways blowboat drift on turns.....the product is not meant to hold up against running over gravel, rocks, beaver dams, etc. Prepping is the key. I highly recommend it.

I just odered a half gal of GG also. This stuff is suppost to be slicker than owl shit. Talked to few airboat owners before I ordered it and they highly recomend it. Said it fairly tuff too. Some have docked on concrete ramps and only recieved minor scratches

A friend this past season coated the prop assembly area, excepting the prop, with steelflex- meaning the section that is usually submerged. I noticed most of it was still on at the end of the season and he claimed it reduced friction as well and did not interfere with steering or control. Just offering this tidbit to all the skeptics out there. :mrgreen:

Because it's not a brand new motor, I would suggest using synthetic oil next changeout; I would also use synthetic grease in the shaft housing. Get a tiny tach to monitor the motor performance/rpms. I know you have a new prop there, go ahead and get a new spare prop as well asap. Make sure the kill switch works! Have fun!

Just slapped the first coat of gator glide g2 on!! 2 more to go. I'm ready to get this thing in the water so I can try out my new long tail !!!!
