i'm going on my 4th year running long tails, the first 2 years i ran a 6.5 beavertail, 3rd year i upgraded to a 20 go devil. the question i have, when running the prop at the surface are you having to hold up on the handle to keep a bite ? i always figured it was the nature of the beast. thanks

On my 23 GDLT the prop and cav plate would naturally run just under the surface effortlessly --- however if you pushed down on the handle to begin "surfacing" of the prop - at that point with the cav plate up in the air, yes about 30lbs of upward lift is needed on the handle to hold the prop in the "sweet spot" where you pick up about 2 mph and run shallower...

About a mile and it gets pretty tiring to continue...

Great short term tactic...

thanks giga, thats pretty much what mine is doing. where i run there is alot of oyster reefs. i found i can rest the handle on my knee, and be right in the zone, the only time it doesn't work is if i hit the reefs and almost go tears from the handle frogging my leg. again, thanks for the input
