I just finished building a couple longtail motors for me and a buddy. They are from the plans you buy on Ebay. I put down a rustoleum primer, some flat green, and then layered with stencils for camo. My question is do you guys cover the paint with a flat sealer? I cant imagine the paint will last to long in the water with no protection. This is my first attemt at longtails or mud motors.

Not sure about a sealer but I know some folks are using a flat clear on their boats an motors

I used a flat clear on everything 2 heavy coats and its still coming off my skeg.. i even skuffed and bulldogged it befote priming

i use the self etching primer then a coat of camo green then i use high gloss engine clear coat. as soon as i put down a layer of gloss i coat it with the green again, kind of dust it. It seems to work pretty well, the engine enamel is gas and high temp resistant. I still have to touch up the skeg and other contact spots but lasts 5x longer than just spray paint. I have a spray gun and could use a more professional style paint but its just to much of a hassle to touch up. I prefer to just keep a spray bomb handy.
