Post subject: | Installing a Kill Switch |
I have a 9HP Vanguard LT. I replaced the motor and it's brand new with a rocker switch for on/off. The old motor that was on this LT frame had a kill switch, but it wasnt hooked up when I bought this unit used on craigslist. Can anyone explain how I can hook this kill switch up so it kills the engine when the tether is disconnected from the plug. Thx |

4 prongs, take two wires tie one into the ground out or into the wire coming into the rockerswitch, then ground out the other wire. These two wires should be connected on the killswitch directly across from each other. So one to ground and one to the wire that grounds it out. Both connected to the killswitch directly across from each other ( Both will be on either the C or on the M) |

you have to make it so that the spark goes to ground when the switch is "turned off". Most people don't know that your On/off switch is actually completing a circuit to ground when its turned to the off portion. Where normally your plug would be getting spark, instead its going to ground. Here's how I did it: Wire one side of your switch to ground (black with yellow crimp connector at bottom of engine), and the other to the coil (red). When your kill it, it sends the signal to ground. |
