Post subject:  Losing RPM's

So I took the LT out this weekend and with my GD 16x38 boat, 3 people, 7 gallons of gas, and 3 people gear, I was running about 3200 RPM, well I had to hold the throttle the hole time because it wanted to keep backing down to around 2800 RPM. I did tighten up the screw on the end of the handle that hold the throttle cable in place and that helped some but it still kept lossing RPM's.

bad gas, heavy load, weeds....there are lots of answers.

How old was the fuel?

Spark plugs clean?

WOT out of the water is....?

is your throttle cable slipping? I've had that a few times....

Gas was good it was only a few days old, no weeds just stumps, new plugs changed this year, WOT out of water can't remember right now and can't go look cause I'm at work, I did tighten the throttle screw at the end of the handle, I know that GD boat is heavy and I did have a little load but I just think something is slipping cause it would go from 3200 to 2800 and hold at 2800 RPM. I can maybe try to tighten the trottle screw a lil more and see what happens.

I am assuming that you mean the throttle lever is backing off. That's why your loosing RPMs and not loosing RPM with the throttle in the same spot.

If you find a way to fix this post hit results. I have been told that's just how it is. Mine does the same thing. I have thought about changing the ball and lever style that's on there now for a different style.
