still doing r & d for my home build LT.would to add a bearing instead of the upper bushing,any one have any good ideas that would save me from screwing things up.pic's would help. |

I saw it posted just recently, but we weld a plate to the end of the shaft housing with a hole in the middle, drill holes to mount a pillow block or you can use another bearing assembly that sandwiches a bearing between two mounting plates. Just something that will be sealed, and is easy to unbolt if you must replace it. |

I had gotten a gas pipe fitting that screwed down onto the shaft housing pipe and had the other end of it machined to have a sealed roller bearing pressed in it and it works great and is removable i looked for the pic i had on hear but it wasnt able to be pulled up for some reason so i will take another pic if you are still interested |

Here are some pic like I said it screws onto the shaft housing pipe that the old godevil seal cap screwed to and the other end of it I had machined and a bearing pressed in I had to use a lil sandpaper to get the shaft to fit perfect but its good now only leaks a small amount of grease pass it and cost about $10 minus the machining cost got lucky and had a friend do it for me good luck hope this helps Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2 |

It's a bit more expensive but on my last longtail build I ordered a top bearing housing from Beavertail and had a plumber buddy thread the top of the shaft tube for it. I believe I paid about $100 for the housing and it has a built-in bearing and seal, simple and easy. |

jp0242 thanks for posting the pics of your home built bearing. i went out today and tracked down the hex bushing ,now i need to match up a sealed bearing then figure out how to put the too together. |

pumpgunner- did you use the mad mud motor plans for that frame build, i can only hope my first build turns out half as nice as that one. |

ds-I built my first longtail from the Mad plans, they are a good starting point but there are a few things on there I would change. They are really good for getting part numbers, etc. That frame in the picture is pretty much a new design with some elements from the Mad plans. It sounds like you are on the right track with yours! |
