Post subject:  steel thickness

Getting ready to order the steel for my build and realized i do not know how thick the plate needs to be. I know i read it somewhere but i wasn't paying attention at the time. Now i can't find the threads i was reading. I think it's 1/8 for the cav plate and is it 3/16" or 1/4" for the engine mounting plate and prop guard. 1/4" seems kind of heavy but willing to listen to what you have to say. Thanks for the help.

3/16" for motor mount and flatbar for support bracing. 1/8" for cavitation plate and skeg.

Thank you. That should save about 10lbs. :)

Mad Mud Motor Plans calls for 1/4" for the motor mount plate and 1/8" for the skeg and cavitation plate.

The Mad plans call for 1/4 but that is overkill in my opinion. 3/16 should be plenty!

Thanks guys, i think i'll go with the 3/16 and if there is any flex i can add some bracing later. This motor will only have a 6hp on it anyway. At least until i get a bigger boat. I got the parts to freshen up the motor ordered today and the steel is next :)
