Just got my new shaft after much anticipation from bog hog. Went to install my prop and it won't thread on. I go to their website and their drive shaft reads "16-fine threads". Is the shaft not standard or is my prop not? What can I do? |

Just got off the phone with them, looks like it is threaded to only accept their props. I'm really upset about this especially since it wasn't advertised a specific to theirs only. What can I do? Can I either get the shaft or prop rethreaded? Can I just weld my prop on? I already paid 30 to ship it here and do not want to pay the same to ship it back. I'm getting frustrated that its turning into more money/effort to upgrade mine than buy a new one. |

The BH shaft is non standard. All other manufacturers make their props and shafts 3/4" diameter by 10 threads per inch. If you look for props, they all say "3/4-10", except apparently BH. Even if you could rethread the prop, (doubtful) you would likely have to go through this again next time you need to replace the prop. You could take the shaft to a machine shop and see if they can rethread to 3/4-10, but by the time you get done, it will cost as much or more to rethread than it would to send the shaft back. I would call Beavertail or BackH20 and get a new standard shaft. Good luck! Mudde |
