Post porpoising or?
This past weekend I noticed my boat wouldn't plane with 3 people and the dog in the boat me 180 my dad about the same, brother in law around 200 dog 55lbs. 23 HP GD my boat 16' true flat bottom skiff. With the in law out of the boat and my niece in still couldn't get on a plane she weighs around 80 lbs. I couldn't get over half throttle without feeling water was going to start coming over the sides of the boat. When I throttle the bow would come up like it was going to plane then just flop down in the water. Any suggestions I tried to distribute some weight moved my gas tank to the front of the boat and some other small stuff. Any suggestions?

3 folks and a hunting load is tough on a 16ft boat and 23hp.

I never could get my 1648 + 27pd to get on step with 3 men in deep water. In shallow out would get up and go though(got to love that ground effect).

Small block Longtail may handle that load better than that pd though.

How wide is your boat? What are your normal speeds and load?

Ugh I can't remember the width off the top of my head but a guesstimate 44-48". It is a fairly heavy boat. Normally with just me and the dog around 17-18 MPH. I have 9x6 prop on now would a 9x7 help? I normally don't hunt with 2 other people I usually hunt solo or maybe with another person.
